Went up to Lake Del Valle for the day.......
Got up there just after 6am, the patio boat (what a joke the thing was so small) was already rented so we got the next biggest thing..a boat called the "deluxe". I'm not sure what was so deluxe about it, but it floated and it held us.
Anyways, before the boys got there, my mom and I went on a little expedition in the boat. We stopped along side the eastern shore and I figured out how to string, bait & cast my pole and then did a little fishing. This is what I caught on only my third cast:
Thats one big catfish! So I never expected to really catch anything, and my mom hates fish! We both kinda freaked out. I was yelling at her to get the bucket so we could scoop him up.....but what were we going to do with him afterwards? We couldnt get the hook out of his lip, and my mom got all animal rights activist on me even though she thinks fish are disgusting. So we had to head back to the dock and get one of the tackle shop boys to help us out. Once he was free my mom dumped him back in the water to swim another day.
Later on when everyone arrived we set off again, but with no luck. We did have quite the stir when I thought I had something really big, well I did, and it really put up a fight, but it was just a huge clump of branches!!!
Armen was the only one daring enough to go swimming. I like this picture, so many good stories to be made up with this one:
The only thing he didnt think of, was how to get back in the boat! LOL!
Eventually we gave up our fishing adventure and went a shore for our picnic. Except for the really bad allergy onset that Alan and I got from sitting in the grass, it was pretty nice.
A quick nap in the car while waiting for my brother and his friend to get back from their hike, and we headed back home. A little sunburned and left with that rocking feeling like ur still on the boat, but it was a good day on the lake. I wish I had found out that there was this nice lake just 45 minutes away from me a lot sooner. Oh well, maybe I can come back in a few years.
