So I met with an Army Recruiter today.
I started the paperwork. Took a urine test.
I go back on wednesday to take the ASVAB test.
Then the following week I have to do my physical.
What just happened?

Listen after serving 8 years I have to tell you that now may not be the best time to join. In fact I doubt that I would go back now at all. Clearly I can’t talk you out of anything but Id be sure to get everything they promised you in writing…. EVERYTHING. Also Id try to get as many bennies as possible.
I also hope that you like spending a lot of time in the Middle East as well. I still have a lot of friends that are in and they are on a 6 - 8 month rotation back to Iraq or Afghanistan. That means up to 15 months in the sand and 6 months off before going back. This is the current mission I don’t care what they tell you it’s the ONLY mission. If you get lucky maybe you’ll go to Korea…. (which really isn’t that lucky). But at least no one is shooting at you on a regular basis. My advice, unless circumstances are dire, think twice.
Ps- Im not the same anonymous guy that replied before….

Who do you think is going to Iraq? Its not the regular Army, oh well.... I wish you the best.
