RFR May 2010

Continuing to make this May the most epic month possible, headed out to Reno-Fernley Raceway last weekend with the 4TheRiders Crew.

We drove up Friday night, and I mean night....on the road at 10pm, as we head into the pass we have rain, then snow, ice and traffic! It was a little bit scary but we made it through. Then the shenanigans started. Ever wonder what it would be like to be driving on the freeway and then a random pizza comes flying at your windshield? LOL Well, Joe and Toe know the feeling.

Got into Fernley around 0200ish. Joe knew a friend with a house in town that was vacant, but was hooked up with water and electricty....just no heat :( It was a super freezing night sleeping on the floor. I think the only thing worse was waking up and washing my face and brushing my teeth with ice cold water. BRRRRRRR!!!!

Saturday was first day at the track, it was cold, windy, and oh yeah it snowed a little. I wasn't riding so I took the oppertunity to visit with Grandma for the afternoon. I didn't tell her I was coming so it was a good surprise. We went to the quilt show in town, then I drove her out to the track to meet Kevin and have lunch.

Saturday night we had a nice warm hotel room. Had dinner with Joe, Toe and Matt at the casino across the street. A little hint, do not drink alcohol if you have taken any cold medication. It's a valid warning when they tell you not to do that. I didn't listen, and I paid for it. *barf*

Sunday morning....all week we were closely watching the weather. First it was gonna be sunny, then rain, then snow, then lightening storms......when the day finally came, partly cloudy skies and it warmed up to 58 degrees! It was chilly in the morning, but actually got a little warm by the last session.

Ok, the good stuff, THE TRACK! RFR is a beast of a track, it makes you work! Twenty-three turns of pure awesomeness. Kev had me hooked up with GoPro cameras everywhere...the footage is amazing, I can't wait to see the video he comes up with. He also towed me around the track for the first two or three sessions. Being able to follow his lines really helped me. The "Hoot and Holler", not so much a fan....the "Bowl", LOVED IT!!! As every lap passed all I wanted to do was get back to the Bowl!

So, great day of riding. Didn't do the last session because I was soooo tired. My whole body was aching from riding all day. Rested, packed up a bit, then sought shelter in the trailer with Toe and Matt and to check out the days photos.

We stopped in town at a little mexican restaurant to meet up with the SCR crew for dinner before the long drive home. It was the perfect end to a perfect day at the track.
