Thunderhill 2009

Back to back trackdays with Zoom Zoom!

My first trackday was way back in September 2005. I sucked so bad, but still had a good time.

Fast forward 4 years and I signed up to do back to back trackdays. I had been thinking about it, but wasn't sure if I really wanted to spend the money. Hot Cop said he wanted to go so then it was set.
We got a late start on Thursday, but still made it up to Willows early enough to get a good nights sleep. Up early Friday, and to the track we went. Stan, Rick, Linda, Sonny and Dmitriy were all there too, so we pitted together. Riding the track is fun, but being there with good friends makes it awesome.

Friday weather conditons were the suck. Winds up to 40mph!!! When we did the parade lap, I was scared. And I blew it all the way around the track. I even left the session early cause I just felt like I hated being out there. Went to the first of the newbie school classes, and afterwards asked Vik if he'd tow me around next time out. Well he did and I frickin loved it. I can follow someone really well; watch their lines, see their body position, find where they enter and exit the turns, but on my own, not so much. After that session I came off track feeling like a rockstar! From there on out everything was pure bliss. I worked with Vik more that day, got some help from Marty and Kelly too. I had my speedo taped up, but Vik said from morning session to the last afternoon session I went up about 20mph going around. Thats pretty cool. Oh yeah, my poor baby girl I took her up to 10k in third gear! But she liked it, I could tell HAHAHA Once I get the bike street legal again I'll have to get her up there again and ses how fast that was.

Any ways, by the end of Friday, due to all the winds, my allergies were kicking my ass. We ate some BBQ that was so nicely provided by Zoom Zoom, and then went back to our hotel to crash!! 10 hours later, time to get back to the track! Saturday morning was beautiful. The wind had died down to almost nothing. The temps were up, but not that bad. A LOT of people came out for the Saturday session. went out on the parade lap, and loved it. Every session that day, loved it. There were some retard newbs who got a little annoying, but nothing to ruin my day. Unfortunately during the first session after lunch, as I am coming around turn 14 I see Hot Cop standing in the grass waving at me. So I put my left arm up to get off track. He had just crashed, but since he was walking and waving to me that was at least a good sign. I'm actually really glad that I came up on the incident at that point, otherwise I would have been so worried not knowing. His leathers got a good scrubbing and his bike, well may she rest in peace. Here's a before and after of his bike:

The rest of the afternoon was thankfully uneventful. I did go a little off track on 14 trying out a new line and body position suggested to me from an instructor, didnt work out too well for me HAHAHA. I was trying to change too much all at once, shouldn't have done that.
Day was over, packed up the truck and we said goodbye to Thunderhill. It was a great weekend. I got to meet Joe for the first time. I got to spend time with some good friends, saw some old friends, made new ones too. And most importantly, I learned a shit ton. It was like every session I just wanted one more lap to try out something. I still want one more lap!!

Thanks to Zoom Zoom, my instructors Vik, Marty, Kelly and Ian, and everyone who helped out to make this the best weekend ever. Big thumbs up to Joe & Toe @ 4theriders.com; Thank you Stan for letting me borrow so much stuff, Chris for driving and putting up with me for two days, and the VA, for giving me a job so I can afford trackdays HAHA
